Here we go, a huge night is here, it’s fair to say i’m nervous considering how the game went last year against Manchester city and the fact that we don’t have Benzema anymore but I have a few reasons to feel optimistic, I shall share these.
Rudiger- Last season Rudiger played great in the first leg and then was on the bench for the 2nd leg, this season Rudiger will be starting and i’m happier when he’s in the starting 11. He’s a monster, our best CB at the moment and I have faith in him.
Modric/ Kroos- I think by now Carlo has agreed that for games against the best teams in the world, starting both Kroos and Modric just won’t cut it anymore. So thankfully we should have a midfield with more energy, which will be ready to compete against arguably 1 of the best midfields in the world today. For me, I think midfield is our strongest position on the field and I think our midfielders are as good as any other teams. I also like the idea of having Modric on the bench, as I think he can make an impact in the 2nd half.
Bellingham- Last season we didn’t have Jude, he didn’t have the best of games in the first leg of this tie, but I have faith in him to make an impact tonight though. I do worry about the age of our attack, before we had Benzema who we could rely on to lead us, and now our attack is a great deal younger ( Joselu aside), this could play against us of course but I trust Jude.
All the cliches fit here tonight, we need to take our chances, Vini Jr and Rodrygo need to be clinical, Lunin will need to have a great game, we can’t give away any silly goals. We have to expect City to start the game fiercely and aggressively so I really hope we can avoid conceding an early goal, which has been a problem for us this season.
A few hours to go now…. Hala Madrid!!!
